Hope you´d be able to help me.I´m totaly desperate. While updating Windows the following problem occured. I managed to turn the computer on as always.I clicked the update Windows icon (bottom right of the screen) after postponing it for quite some time and became shown that there are 3 updates. Two of them were successfuly instaled.Computer restarted itself and began to configure 3rd of 3 updates. See all 17 rows on isohunt.to. It ˝freezed˝ at 51% finished.Because it didn` t get anywhere for over 30 minutes I made a possible mistake and turned the computer off myself. From then on nothing helped,no restarting,no nothing.
I couldn´t see the main screen. The only thing that seems to be working on the keybord are Ctrl, Alt,Del buttons. With that I get the page open where I can choose to switch user, turn the computer off, etc. O,and the turn off button also works! So,when I turned the computer back on (I repeated the on-off process several times), I do get the Windows icon shown but after a few seconds the following appears: SHDOCVW.dll file not found and the additional text that it might help if I restart the whole thing (But I can not do that!!!!). I don´t know much about computers.Anyway,I´ve tried absolutely everything I can remember to fix the problem! PLEASE HELP ME! I need to get my Acer fixed as soon as possible, because I have numerous photos and videos saved which I need for my exams! Thank you for your answer!

Try: 1. Systerm Restore. Make a Bootable Repair disk. Save Data, if necessary, before reinstall.
Restore Point: Try tapping F8 at startup, and from the list of startup selections, select Safe Mode by using UP Arrow Key to go there then hit Enter. Try a System Restore once there, to pick a Restore Point before your problem. Click Start Programs Accessories System Tools System Restore pick a different time Next etc If the above does not work, try making a Bootable Repair Disk to do a Startup Repair: As is the case with most computer/laptops these days, they do not come with the proper Vista Disk to do Repairs with; only Recovery Disks. As yours falls into the above category: Download the ISO file at the supplied link, and make a Bootable Repair Disk from it. Go into your Bios/Setup, or Boot Menu, at startup, and change the Boot Order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the Boot Order, then reboot with the disk in the Drive. At startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, to go into Bios/Setup, or F12 for the Boot Menu. When you have changed that, insert that Bootable Disk you have made in the Drive, and reboot.
You can do a Startup Repair, System Restore, etc with it. Read all info at the website about creating and using it. ISO Burner: It makes a very good Repair Vista disk. You can do a Startup Repair, System Restore, etc from it. It is not a reinstall disk. And the 32bit is what comes normally on a computer, unless 64bits requested.
Data Recovery: 1. Slave your Hard Drive in another computer, and read/save your Data from there. Put your Hard drive in a USB Hard Drive Enclosure, plug into another computer, and read/save from there.
Or, use Knoppix Live CD to recover your Data: Download/Save the above Knoppix Live CD ISO file. Download the Vista Burning software from the above link. After installing above ISO burning software, right-click on Knoppix ISO file Copy Image to CD. Knoppix does not install on your PC; just uses your PC's resources, RAM, Graphics, etc. Change the Boot Order in YOUR computer/laptop to make the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the Boot Order. Plug in a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read your Hard Drive.
When the desktop loads, you will see at least two hard drive icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive and one for the USB drive). Click on the hard drive icons to open them up and figure out which drive is which. Right-click the USB drive icon and choose 'Actions Change read/write mode' so you can write to the drive (it's read-only by default for security reasons). Now find the files you want to back up and drag and drop them to the USB drive. When you are finished, shut down the system and remove the USB drive. Mick Murphy - Microsoft Partner.
Note: If your computer will not load into the Windows Operating System, you can access the Acer Recovery Management before Windows starts. For more information, please visit.
In Acer Recovery Management you have the option to restore your computer. Clicking restore will present you with 3 options:. The first option is Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults, which will completely erase your computer and reinstall Windows returning it to the same state it was when you turned your computer on for the first time. The second option is Restore Operating System and Retain User Data, which is essentially the same process but the information stored in your user account folder will be saved. Acer still recommends backing up all other data if you choose to use this option. The third option, Reinstall Drivers or Applications, is discussed in further detail below. Note: Keep in mind that Windows recovery or an anti-virus program may solve an issue your having without having to completely reinstall Windows. To start your system restore follow the below steps:.
Click on the Start menu and click All Programs. In the program list click the Acer folder, then click the Acer eRecovery Management icon.
Windows User Account Control may ask for your permission to run this program, click Yes. From the Acer eRecovery Management window on the left click Restore, then click Completely Restore System to Factory Defaults. On the Confirmation screen, select Yes and click Start. Finally click OK to confirm restoration and then your computer will restart. After the computer restarts click Next if you agree to the notice on your screen.
Note: The notice is informing you that all your data will be erased. If you have not backed up your data click Cancel now. Next you get a final confirmation screen. Click Next, then click OK to start the recovery process. The recovery may take a while to finish.
You will get a confirmation screen when it is finished. Click OK to restart your computer. When Windows restarts it will take a few minutes to complete the restore process and once finished it will restart your computer again. Windows will now begin a first time setup just as it did when you turned your computer on for the first time.
Once you fully load back into Windows it will complete the final steps of the recovery. A progress bar will let you know what step of the process it is in. The third option is Reinstall Drivers or Applications.
This will allow you to reinstall any application or driver that you may be having problems with that came installed on your computer without reinstalling Windows completely. To reinstall a driver or application follow the below steps:. Click on the Start menu and click All Programs. In the program list click the Acer folder, then click the Acer eRecovery Management icon.
Windows User Account Control may ask for your permission to run this program, click Yes. From the Acer Recovery Management window on the left click Restore, then click Reinstall Drivers or Applications. Select Contents. Choose the driver or application you wish to install.
On the right, click the Install link and follow the prompts. The computer may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer.

Hey guys I want to recover my laptop, an Acer Aspire 8735G. When I bought this laptop I deleted all the mess that comes with it, but I accidently deleted Acer eRecovery too, which is necessary to burn the hidden backup partition to a CD/DVD which is what I wanted to do. I want to burn the hidden partition on a CD or DVD and then just recover my laptop. The reason that I want to recover my laptop is because I have most files backed up and there's too much mess on my laptop to figure out everything I want to back up. The mess on my laptop is just too big to find out what I still want to use of it.
Anyone has a download to the Acer eRecovery Management application? It's been deleted from the Acer website for some reason. I already downloaded a version of the eRecovery program but the loader said it wasn't compatible with my version of Windows/hardware. Thanks in advance guys! Hello fANAT1C. Sad to say if you deleted the 'Acer Factory Recovery Partition' before you created the recovery disk set there's not much that can be done for that, once it's gone it's gone.
There is the option to use a Windows 7 install disk of the exact same version to reinstall Windows 7 to the laptop and use the activation key on the COA sticker attached to the PC to active when finished; do you know anyone that may have a Windows 7 disk you would be able to use? Be sure to post back with any questions you may have concerning this method and we'll do what we can to help. Hello fANAT1C. I simply deleted the program! Thanks for your help though. Here is the standard Acer Recovery Instructions 1. Power on the machine 2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery 3.
Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings” 4. Click “OK” to continue 5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes). Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit Kk thanks!
I'll post here when the recovery was successfully done or failed. How many times can I do a backup like this?
